The two most important lines of the night from Obama:
I think I will be the Democrat who will be most effective in going up against a John McCain -- or any other Republican, because they all want basically a continuation of George Bush's policies -- because I will offer a clear contrast as somebody who never supported this war, thought it was a bad idea. I don't want to just end the war, but I want to end the mind-set that got us into war in the first place. That's the kind of leadership I intend to provide as president of the United States.
And:
The reason that this is important again is that Senator Clinton, I think, fairly has claimed that she's got the experience on day one. And part of the argument that I'm making in this campaign is that it is important to be right on day one -- and that the judgment that I've presented, on this issue and some other issues, is relevant to how we're going to make decisions in the future.
For me, that is what the choice on Tuesday is all about.
On the single most important issue of our lifetime, she fell victim to George Bush's mindset. She made a really bad decision and is unable to defend it. She knows it was a mistake, but it is politically unfeasible for her to admit it, so it's just back to politics as usual. More of the same. We've had enough of that for the past eight years.
We've all talked a lot about the fact that no one has been held accountable for this war. Voting for Obama is our one chance to say that this historic vote does indeed have consequences in the voting booth.
