Andi Parhamovich, the former head of communications at Air America, was killed in Iraq on Wednesday
I worked very closely with Andi, when MKPR handled publicity for The Bring 'Em Home Now concert last March. She helped organize the concert.
She had left Air America last year and joined the National Democratic Institute, a non profit led by former Secretary of State Madeline Albright that was teaching Iraqi politicians how to communicate with constituents.
Andi was in an institute convoy outside the Green Zone when it was attacked on Wednesday.
She was 28.
She's not the first young woman who had opposed the war and lost her life after going to Iraq to help create something good out of the chaos we created.
I'm currently reading What They Asked Of Us: An Oral History of the Iraq War by the Soldiers Who Fought It.
It is terrifying and devastating.
Whether the soldiers are pro-war or anti-war, the stories from these courageous men and women is that no matter how hard they wanted to make a difference, their efforts were futile.
Bring 'em home now.
breaks my heart

Thought that book would make your list. I wish her family could read your blog entry.
